New single ‘Narrow St’
Marc O’Reilly
Release date: Friday November 4

“Adventurous, promising… A debut that augurs well.” Irish Times
“A remarkable debut” Hot Press
“A classy debut” Dan Hegarty (2FM)
“There is something very genuine in his work…a talent for capturing a moment in time and creating a snapshot with his music” State.ie

‘Narrow St’ is the third single taken from Marc O’Reilly’s debut album, My Friend Marx, released earlier in 2011.

It’s proven to be a busy year for the young songwriter – relentless gigging around Ireland has seen him rapidly build up a loyal following, while festival appearances and consistent national radio play have brought him to the cusp of his first live appearance on national television (The View, RTE 1, November 8).

The video for his first single, ‘My Friend Marx’, won the Best Music Video at the DareMedia Underground Short Film Festival Awards, while the beautifully shot, black & white footage of his appearance on RTE’s Arena programme has been a YouTube hit! He was also selected for the IMRO ‘Best of’ Showcase finale at Dublin’s Workman’s Club on Oct 22.

Marc’s album ranges from US and UK inspired folk ‘n’ blues to African percussive rhythms. ‘Narrow St’ however, finds the songwriter in a gentler muse and its melody and refrain linger in the mind for a long while after the song plays out.

Marc’s all-or-nothing live show has had venues, promoters and artists seek him out over the last nine months since the album release, but the artist is about to step up to the next level and ‘Narrow St’ will be the final stepping stone to what is going to be a big year for him in 2012.
